Instructional Technology
Instructor: Mrs. Iadeluca

Students come to the computer lab to learn new technology skills and apply them as they do activities related to their grade level curriculum. We will continue implementing the Internet Safety Curriculum for VA's elementary students this school year. Clicky and his friends from www.netsmartzkids.org will lead us along the way. Click on the link and meet Clicky now! Also, teachers will continue to participate in staff development sessions this year to create activities that integrate technology into their lessons. We are all excited about entering the 21st century digital environment!

Computer Class is the BEST!!!
Computer Class is the BEST!!!

During this 12 day rotation of Encore classes, we will continue improving our mouse skills and keyboarding skills as we begin using software (Kidspiration, and Pixie3) in grades k-3 to make posters and begin navigating around the world using Google Earth in grades 3, 4 and 5. We have also begun using worldbookonline.com at all grade levels and really enjoy watching video clips and using the text reader to gain more info on selected topics. We continue going over quality student expectations in the computer lab.

Kindergarten-- We continue practicing our mouse skills and our alphabet and number sense skills by using www.starfall.com and www.abcya.com (K level).
Each Kindergarten class is excited about coming to the lab with their teachers once a week to use the new Reading Eggs online program Mr. W just purchased for us!

First grade-- We're reviewing mouse skills and doing activities at
www.abcya.com grade 1 to increase our number sense. We've also been learning to use the paint brushes and paint bucket in a different section of the site! We will be using Pixie and Kidspiration to apply these skills. We are now learning to navigate from one site to another using Favorites. During January we will be practicing our reading skills using razkids.com and readingeggs.com. We love digital learning!

Second grade--We're reviewing more advanced keyboarding skills while practicing math skills to increase our number sense and math fact knowledge at
www.abcya.com (grade 2) and playing games to improve our sight vocabularies.  We are now doing really well navigating from one site to another using Favorites.

Third Grade-- We're reviewing mouse skills and doing activities at
www.abcya.com to increase our number sense. (grade 3). We have been using studyisland.com frequently to reinforces our math and reading skills. We are now doing really well navigating from one site to another using Favorites. We love doing research using the online encyclopedia!

Fourth Grade--We're reviewing more advanced keyboarding skills while practicing math skills to increase our number sense and math fact knowledge at www.abcya.com  (grade 4) and www.cyberchase.com. We are beginning to use Google Earth software to locate places around Maryland and the world.

Fifth grade--We're reviewing more advanced keyboarding skills while practicing math skills to increase our number sense and math fact knowledge at
www.abcya.com (grade 5). and www.cyberchase.com. We are able to use Google Earth software to locate places around the world in grades 4-5. Some fifth graders are even flying their own planes…but let me caution you not to go up in any plane with them steering! During January we will be reviewing and practicing our writing skills using a variety of software programs in preparation for the Writing SOL's.
